Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 infection, also known as COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is increasingly affecting the Brazilian population. The lack of articles that compile epidemiological data on how Brazil and more specifically the Federal District is dealing with the pandemic, directly affects the development of public policies. The present work aims to characterize and analyze the epidemiological profile of COVID-19 in Brazil and the Federal District from the national and international scientific production. This is an integrative review of the literature, based on the analysis of scientific articles and epidemiological data present in government documents, from January 1 to April 30, 2020. 13 studies were included, 4 articles and 9 government documents. The articles were searched in Medline and LILACS databases. Government documents were obtained from official websites of the Ministry of Health and its partners. The 4 articles included bring epidemiological information, most of which analyses a short-delimited period, about the situation of COVID-19 in Brazil, including data on hospitalization and ICU beds. The information collected in government documents is updated until the first quadrennium of 2020.
